Margo Livesay, Ph.D.
Dr. Livesay focuses her practice on the drafting and prosecution of patent applications in technologies including computer software and hardware, telecommunications, computer networking, telecommunications, imaging, business methods, bioinformatics and computer science applications. She has substantial experience in drafting Appeal Briefs before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences (BPAI). Dr. Livesay also provides patent analysis and client counseling including infringement and validity opinions, as well as pre-suit and pre-purchase due diligence related to existing patents or patent portfolios.

Prior to starting her own firm, Dr. Livesay worked in the Washington, DC office of Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal LLP and Burns, Doane, Swecker & Mathis, LLP, where she focused her practice on the drafting and prosecution of patent applications, and was involved in the litigation of software and wireless patent cases before U.S. District Courts and the ITC. She has also practiced in other intellectual property firms, beginning her active practice in patent matters in 1997.

Prior to becoming a patent attorney, Dr. Livesay was a full-time university Computer Science faculty member involved in teaching and research. Her university teaching career spanned 25 years, and her favorite research topics at least include data structures for multikey retrieval, databases, compiler theory, genetic algorithms, system design, graph theory, and computational geometry.
